Planning is by far the most important phase of any project. The planning activities lay the ground work for all tasks and deliverables that follow.

Without adequate planning, there is no project control in during the design and development phases

Deliverables of the Planning Phase:

	Project Charter – the project charter includes: Project definition & objectives
	Project Scope Statement Project deliverables Metrics for evaluating project success Assessment of organizational readiness, including employee incentives for change and potential areas of resistance Project participants and team Project approach High-level budget and timeline
	Project kick-off meeting
	Begin scheduling and planning Requirements Elicitation sessions with the user community and technical team
